The 2022-23 academic year saw the return of The Heritage New Writing Contest, drawing entries from 14 private schools across the island. Students were asked to write on the theme of food, and entries were accepted in the categories of Poetry and Prose at Under 11, Under 15 and Under 18 level. Judged by an international panel of writers and academics, winners were selected on the basis of their work’s level of technical and artistic assurance and originality.
We are proud and delighted to showcase the winning and commended entries in the 2nd edition of the Contest’s journal, Upon A Golden Bough, which really serves to highlight just how much literary talent is currently flourishing in our schools. We look forward to many of these voices contributing even more to Cyprus’s literary scene as the years go by.
