Is Shrek the Musical OK for children to watch?

Shrek is PG rated which means children must attend with older family members. There may be a few scenes that young children will need guidance with, such as how Shrek and Fiona's parents abandon them when they are 7 years old, or how Lord Farquuad banishes characters and threatens them with execution. The Dragon may also create tension a child will need support with.

What age can I bring to watch the show?

As long as parents / guardians are with their children in the audience, any age from 7 onwards would be fine (as it may be difficult to keep younger children in their seats for such a long period of time). As it is a PG, it is not recommended for children under 5.

How much are the tickets?

This year, the tickets are free, but online booking is required for all attendees, by clicking on hps.ac.cy/shrek. Please present your reservation QR code at the Multifunction Hall entrance on the evening of the performance. Seating will be available on an open, first-come-first-served basis.

Am I able to reserve seats?

No, admission is on an open-seating and on a first come, first served basis.

Can I just turn up without pre-booking?

We highly recommend that you pre-book to ensure your admission is confirmed on the night. Due to the popularity of this show, we expect full capacity at the Multifunction Hall, and as such, we cannot guarantee your admission without a booking.

What time does the show start and how long is it?

The show will start promptly at 7.30 p.m.  and finish by 10.00 p.m. Doors will open at 7.15 p.m.

Is there an intermission?

There will be a short 20 minute intermission after Act 1.

Will there be food and drink available to buy?

Snacks and drinks will be available to buy in the Foyer. Please note that food and drinks (other than water) are not allowed in the hall itself.

Can I pay for refreshments by card?

Yes, a card machine will be available to pay for snacks and drinks.

Can we go backstage after the show to congratulate cast members?

No audience members are allowed backstage at any point before, during or after the show. Instead, they must wait for the cast to come out to the hall after the show has ended.

Is there any singing?

Yes, this is a musical and it includes singing, acting and dancing.

Can I leave my child at the theatre to watch the show without a guardian?

No. There is no supervision provided and all audience members are expected to sit quietly and watch the show. Unsupervised children under the age of 13 may cause disruptions for the cast, musicians and crew.

Is there a place I can smoke on school grounds?

No. Smoking anywhere on school grounds is not permitted.
