Exhibitions

An annual Art Exhibition is presented in the first week of June every year, chiefly to allow for the external examination moderator to view the work of our students.

The moderator travels from the UK for the inspection. On the same evening we invite parents, families and friends into school to see the exhibition; the culmination of a year of commitment and creative enterprise by our students.

The school environment is transformed for several days, with sculptures and paintings adorning the cafeteria and adjacent public areas in a celebration of all that the students have achieved.

Sometimes work is offered for sale, although this is not the main purpose of the exhibition.

Art Exhibition photographs from recent years may be seen on this website, with the school logo overlay to prevent unlawful copying. We thank you for respecting the copyright of our students’ work.

The Art Department has been an extremely busy environment recently. Our major event of the 2010-11 academic year, the annual art exhibition, was well-attended, with all of the GCSE, AS and A2 Level students bringing their families to see the exhibition in the first few days. It attracted visitors from right across the island of Cyprus, the UK and Russia. It has become such an important annual event that even parents of students living abroad travelled especially to see it.

Speech By Andreas Chrysochos: Children’s Art

Posted in Art & Exhibitions, Art, Exhibitions

They say that the happiest time in one’s life is the early years of childhood and adolescence. The most wonderful things seem to happen as a child grows and develops. Of course the child is not consciously aware of their own bodily and mental growth, but intelligent adults can observe and try to explain this miracle.

My father was born in the year 1929 into a family of goldsmiths; he comes from Milia Famagusta. He has liked drawing and painting since childhood, and in this field he was always encouraged by his teachers.
