IGCSE

The Senior Department of The Heritage Private School caters for 11+ to 18 year olds in a manner that ensures continuity of education through to Higher Education and training at 18+ or work.

GCE Advanced Supplementary (AS Level) and Advanced Level (A Level) courses form the core of the curriculum after the IGCSEs. They offer the opportunity to study the chosen subjects in depth.

Most students who enter Year 12 embark on a two-year course in which they study four subjects - a combination of AS/A Level courses.

Entry into Year 12 is based on academic record and potential. Students are expected to cultivate sound work habits and to study independently. Each Subject has an assigned number of direct contact periods. Additional non-contact periods are for private study in designated study areas. Students are expected to develop a range of interests, make good use of their time and show a responsible attitude.

Apart from their AS and A Level subjects, students in Years 12 and 13 are expected to attend the Careers and life skills programme and Physical Education. Participation in sports, projects, communally service, teams and other extra-curricular activities is encouraged.
